What is Pilates!

Regular practice of Pilates can reward you in so many ways, physically and mentally. 


Developed by Joseph Pilates, he named it Contrology. We now know it as Pilates, a complete mind body practice that has was developed by Joe using his wealth of knowledge of exercise, anatomy and physiology, movement and how it could be used to make people stronger and aid in the recovery from Musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries. 


Joe created a Pilates repertoire of in excess of 600 exercises, using a Mat and Studio equipment such as the Universal Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Arm Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine corrector, Ped O Pull...


Move forward a few decades and Pilates has evolved slightly to allow for our bodies of today. Some Pilates methods follow Joes intent to the letter, this method is often referred to as the Classical Method. We have Pilates that is specific to those with injuries, Fitness Pilates, Pre-Natal/Post Natal Pilates, Mat Pilates, Equipment/Studio Pilates the list goes on!


The "So What" it's all Pilates and sits under the Pilates title. There is no right or wrong Method.


Pilates is suitable for everyone from beginner to those recovering from injuries, professional athletes, dancers, actors, politicians and you!!

Group Mat Pilates Classes (In person and Online Classes)


We run group Mat classes in Amesbury, Salisbury local area. We also run Online Group Mat Pilates Classes. Our class term normally runs in 7–10-week blocks.

Mat Class Categories

Beginners

Suitable for all but specifically those that are new to Pilates, returning after a long break or those recovering from injury. Learn the foundations of Mat Pilates, gain strength, mobility, flexibility and body awareness.


Mixed Ability

This class includes exercises from across the Mat Pilates repertoire, some of which require prior Pilates experience. Modifications and adaptations are given throughout to ensure inclusion and enjoyment of the class. Please contact us if you are unsure of the suitability of this class.


Improvers/Intermediate

This class is slightly faster in pace and requires recent/current Pilates experience. Please contact us if you are unsure of the suitability of this class.



Class Booking Options

All Mat Classes must be booked via our online booking system. Links to which can be found throughout this page.


Block Booking

This option is great for those that have a found a class that suits their schedule and want to attend each week for the entire term. Just find the class that you want to attend in the schedule and select the block booking option.


10 Class Pass

Our 10-class pass is a great option for those that can't commit to the same class each week. This option allows you to pick 10 classes from across the schedule.

Just select the class pass option on the booking system, add the classes that you want to attend to your basket then pay at the online checkout.

Purchase a 10 Mat Pilates class pass for £85.


Single Class Ticket

We still have the option to pay as go each week. Just find the class you want to attend in the schedule and select Single Pilates Class Ticket option on the booking system.

A single class is just £9.


Attending one of our classes


We ask that you bring your own Mat with you to class, preferably a non-slip Pilates/Yoga Mat. We have a few that can be borrowed for the duration of the class if you don't have your own.

Bring a small towel and a bottle of water in case you get slightly thirsty throughout.

Wear something comfortable to exercise in that isn't going to restrict your movement throughout the class. Wear grip socks or no socks for the class and bring a jumper or jacket to put on at the end of the class.

Toilet facilities are available for our use at each venue.

If you are attending one of our Online Classes, please ensure that your camera is positioned towards your Mat.
